Installing and Configuring MandalaMaker™

Step 1 - Installing a Java™ Virtual Machine

For Windows®:

MandalaMaker is optimized to use Sun's Java Runtime Environment (JRE). You should download and install the latest version from www.java.com.


For Macintosh®:

On Mac OS X, Java is built in to the system and no installation is needed.

MandalaMaker is not supported on Classic Mac OS.


For other operating systems:

For Solaris™, Linux, other Unix flavors, etc, you will need to be a bit more resourceful.

If you are running some other OS, such as Linux or any other OS, you will need to obtain a JVM installer. Virtual machines are freely available on the Web.

For Solaris, Unix, or Linux you can obtain a JVM at Sun's Java site at:


Step 2 - Installing MandalaMaker

Note: The first time you launch MandalaMaker, you will be asked to comply with our licensing argeement. Please read the agreement carefully, and if you accept, click the "I Agree" button. If you choose not to accept the agreement, just return your MandalaMaker CD for a full refund.

Windows® Installation

Note: If the MandalaMaker CD does not auto-mount, you will need to find it on "My Computer"

  1. Double-click the "MandalaMaker.msi" file located in the "Windows" folder on the CD-ROM to launch the installer.
  2. Follow the instructions.
  3. A Shortcut to MandalaMaker will be created on your Desktop.
  4. Once installation is complete you can launch MandalaMaker by by double-clicking the shortcut.

Macintosh® Installation

OS X: Find the "MandalaMaker1.1.x.tar" file in the "Macintosh" folder on the CD-ROM. Double click the file to expand the archive. Drag the expanded "MandalaMaker-1.4" folder into your Applications folder.

Once MandalaMaker is installed, you can launch it like any other Mac application by double-clicking the "MandalaMaker" icon.


Unix or Linux Installation

Find the "MandalaMaker-1.4" folder in the "Other OS" Directory on the CD-ROM. Place this folder in a convenient location. Once the folder is in place you can launch MandalaMaker from the command line with:
cd path/to/MandalaMaker-1.4
java -jar MandalaMaker.jar
