MandalaMaker 2 - System Requirements
Windows
• Windows XP (SP2 or higher), Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8 and 10 (Windows 7 or higher recommended)
• 512MB physical RAM required, 1GB strongly recommended.
• Java Runtime Environment or JRE (included with MandalaMaker 2.1)
Windows Java Notes:
MandalaMaker 2.1, released in October 2013, is compatible with Java 1.7 (aka Java 7). MandalaMaker 2.1 ships with a bundled JRE, so no separate Java installation is required. It is recommended that all Windows MandalaMaker users update to the 2.1 version to avoid Java version issues. Updating will not affect your licensing.
MandalaMaker 2.0.x is compatible only with Java version 1.6, also known as Java 6. Oracle depreciated Java 6 in mid 2013.
Mac OS X
• Intel-based Macs running OS X version 10.5.2 or higher
• 512MB physical RAM required, 1GB strongly recommended.
• Java Runtime Environment or JRE (included with MandalaMaker 2.1 for Mavericks)
Mac Java Notes:
If you are running OS X 10.9 "Mavericks" or newer you should download MandalaMaker 2.1 for Mac, released in November 2013, which includes an embedded Java 7 JRE. It is recommended that all users running 10.9 and above update to MandalaMaker 2.1 to avoid Java version issues. Updating will not affect your licensing.
If you are running Mac OS X 10.5 through 10.8 you should download MandalaMaker 2.0. This version of MandalaMaker does not include a bundled JRE and is compatible only with Java 1.6 (also called Java 6).* See the directions below for your OS version to ensure that you have the proper Java software.
In OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion," Java is not installed by default. You can prompt your Mac to download Java by opening the Java Preferences application located at /Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences.
On Mac OS X versions before 10.8 "Mountain Lion", Java 6 is built in to the system. You should run Software Update to be sure your Java software is up to date.
*As of Fall 2010 Apple has ceased creating its own Java versions. Java versions 7 and later for Mac are available from Oracle at www.java.com, however, the Mac version of Java 7 does not fully implement the Mac look and feel, which makes it unsuitable for MandalaMaker 2.0. Java 8, due to be released in March 2014, corrects the shortcomings of Java 7 on the Mac. Look for an updated MandalaMaker version with support for Java 8 in 2014.
